BREAKING: The media is still addicted to curiosity-gap
This is pure curiosity-gap clickbait, except instead of trying to get me to click on something, you’re trying to get me to turn on the telly, to learn about… well, you won’t say. I need to turn on the telly to find out.
It’s almost like he wants people to watch his TV show. What an ass.
Sure, that’s fine. If he says “we’re going to be talking about the kids in Thailand,” then if I want to watch that I will, and if I don’t, I won’t. But what’s the good reason for not telling me?
Using curiosity-gap tactics maximizes the probability that I won’t be interested in what he’s talking about, and will switch off the show. It’s an unsustainable and very small sugar-high ratings boost, which annoys many potential viewers. Why bother?
you're suggesting there's a lot of thought put into a tweet 15 secs before a show starts. maybe there should be, but, nope...
