Checks and balances worked — whistleblowers, journalists, IG's, lawmakers all played a part in exposing Scott Pruitt's abuses of powerhttp://www.snappytv.com/tc/8403470/5886307 …

What a horrible take. They worked?? Dude has been blatantly corrupt for 18 months and is canned only because he's been overshadowing the boss. Wow

i didn't say they worked "quickly." but if you're paying attention to "institutions" in the trump era, this is a noteworthy case.

Love your work but not sure "Checks and balances worked" from our constitutional institutions; to the extend there were check it has been inspite of them! The end result does not give them a pass.

Word is coal lobbyist Andrew Wheeler will replace Scott Pruitt because whale oil lobbyist Captain Ahab Ceely hasn't returned from hunting the white whale.

Many seem to be overlooking the reality that journalists had sources in part - because staff inside the EPA were appalled by what Pruitt was doing and wanted US taxpayers to know.

Alternatively, this was a demonstration of how "checks & balances" don't apply in this corruption-infested administration. The only thing that matters to Trump is Trump. Unless your misconduct hurts him, you're fine.

We need the checks and balances to work faster. Better yet we need people with integrity to be approved. But, yes thankfully Pruitt is gone 👏

Really? If they had worked effectively he would’ve been out months ago. Meanwhile, he got away with thousands and thousands of dollars in waste, and ethics violations that would get lower level people in legal trouble. We don’t even know if his resignation is based only on that.

Wait, what?!? If checks and balances actually worked, Pruitt would have been gone months ago. If we have learned anything from his delayed departure is that Washington D.C. may be more of a cesspool than ever before.

Look how truly sad this headline is. In an effort to cater to some moderate Republicans who might watch @CNN, Brian has to let them know that "hey this is how things SHOULD work in a functioning Democracy". With a "Checks & Balances" frame @brianstelter I see what you did there.
