I cover media. I've been working on a CNN documentary about Trump and TV. I interviewed one of the Handmaids Tale producers for the doc and I've talked to TV critics about this broader issue. I don't think it's an opinion to point out that America is not Gilead, nor is it close.

"I don't think this kind of fear-mongering helps anybody" is absolutely 100% an opinion. It may be a good opinion, it may be a bad opinion, but it's clearly an opinion.

A compelling aspect of The Handmaid's Tale is the flashbacks showing how much America wasn't Gilead right up until it was Gilead. It's a cautionary tale. The press is now "the enemy of the American people." Do we know how many steps lie between that and Gilead's Boston Globe?
