@emmagf LOL. Whenever I see that route, I think, "how would someone react if a cabbie took that route to LGA"

Some critics probably snickered about the JFK AirTrain route as well, but today it's relied on by more than 7 million a year as a reliable means of getting to the airport. No airport should be without rail mass transit. Glad we're trying.

Extending the N train would be a good try. This is a bad try.

That has been tried - and failed miserably. Also would entail extensive disruption to community, permanent changes to residential streets and prob be more expensive. Robert Moses would love it.

it has not been tried, it’s been proposed and some loud nimbys yelled about it. people not wanting change does not equal data. and at the ballooning price of the backwards airtrain it somehow might not be more expensive while being tons more useful.

Well, you might object because cabs charge by distance. But if it was expressway versus on the streets of northern Queens, it might be faster and preferable. Shortest line isn't necessarily the best.

As someone who's gone from LaGuardia to Grand Central, the route makes no logical sense by plane, train or automobile
