Brand new CNN polling: Two-thirds of Americans "oppose policy that causes family separation," but a majority of Republicans approve http://cnn.it/2JZzbaW pic.twitter.com/gB7gXqFJdd

Mr. Stelter - when are 1,1012 people a majority of the population? This is false advertising for the @GOP, to make it look like Republicans are backing this.

@quilts4veterans Laurie - (please...) Try a 30 second read-up on math, statistical significance, polling, margin of error - yep; you can pick any these via Google, Wikipedia, Fox News search function and get the same learning. Also; take a peek at the small print?

I actually did look at the small print and your condescending attitude that you are somehow more informed than I reflects that you don't feel the truth is necessary in reporting. That would be your problem, not mine.

Laurie, my apologies - no intention to be condescending, I jumped to conclusion of you defending the sad outcome of the poll. Still; results is generally presented this way, sample size and margins in notes, data sheets attached / linked. Examples on 538 are great for reference.

Thank you- I appreciate your time explaining it. My son is the mathematician, but I do manage to struggle through as well. I am annoyed that reporting of polls never gives the actual number of people asked, except in fine print.

It’s in the fine print because if a poll is conducted rigorously, using appropriate sampling methods, the precise number of people polled is really just...a footnote.

here you go, twitter grammar expert. 1. lock illegal aliens up that smuggle their children across border 2. prosecute reckless and selfish parents for nearly killing their kids 3. send children back to country of origin to extended family or for adoption.
