Totally disagree with you on this Carole. Was the executive director of a
#MentalHealth#nonprofit. Research shows that keeping the conversation going and shattering the stigma around#depression#suicide#PTSD and the other#MentalIllness diagnosis, is healthy and necessary -
From the Samaritan page linked to above: "Research has consistently shown links between certain types of media coverage of suicide and increases in suicidal behaviour among vulnerable people."

No-one will disagree with reducing the stigma around mental illness. But reducing that stigma is *not* what that magazine cover is doing, or aiming at.

Number does not negate the irresponsibility of a bullshit “Talent and Tragedy” headline which falls into the trope of romanticising mental illness & the genius / madness myth. Headlines and angles like this are a big problem.

Quite frankly a lot of the media angle on suicide & mental illness has now swung too far the other way, acting as though serious mental illness is totally normal. But this romanticisation of mental illness as something creative or talented people have is v damaging

Thank you Brian. I am personally so very heartbroken over Anthony. I cannot wrap my head around it. I have had friends who have committed suicide. I cannot thank you enough for any and all things you do to help prevent the next case.
