For me, because he was the epitome of having the greatest job on earth...traveling the world... eating phenomenal food... meeting interesting people with just enough celebrity status It “appeared” to be a fantastic life

-
I thought the exact same! My freaking fantasy job! That’s why it really, REALLY hit me this time how devastating depression can be. RIP Anthony

What took everybody so long? He was a genius writer. 'Kitchen Confidential' one of my dozen lifetime favourites. Fearless, vital.

obviously, they were completely different people, circumstances around their deaths were very different, but the reaction to Bourdain's death reminds me most of the reaction to Prince's death. Two bright shining stars that left this world far sooner than people were ready for.

I loved Kitchen Confidential. Will sorely miss his sense of adventure - food and otherwise. Peace, Anthony.

How can a person you've never met have such incredible impact at their death? I watched Parts Unknown as well as the CNN special overnight. It was tough. When I forced myself to read something else, I ended up on a hockey blog, what are they talking about? Bourdain! What a life!

No offense to Bourdain, but I find it troubling that you are putting this out there. People on the edge should not be getting reinforcement that they will get adulation after a tragic death by suicide.
