Trump is conflating random Twitter commenters with "the media" here. A common tactic of bad faith critics. But disappointing to see POTUS do it.pic.twitter.com/7tWObMmUdD

This excuse making is why no one takes journalists seriously anymore. Stelter should admit he was wrong, and we can move on.
And then there's this outfit called CNN... https://www.cnn.com/2018/06/03/politics/melania-trump-return-public-gold-star-ceremony/index.html …pic.twitter.com/Hhf0ncrDz0
Oops. Newsweek, too: "Conspiracy theories seem to follow first lady Melania Trump around: Does she have a doppelganger who does the jobs she hates? Does she hate her life and wish her husband wasn’t president? (Probably.)" http://www.newsweek.com/melania-trump-where-melania-first-lady-donald-trump-948652 …pic.twitter.com/kWle4c2qyB
Twitter comments don't count for people in media? Bro...
can i get a copy of the secret rule book on media
Not unless you are a proud member of the Democrat party.
“ACKSHUALLY what journos at major media publications say on Twitter doesn’t matter!” is a hot take that I was not expecting TBQH.
"Just because we have a blue checkmark solely because we are journalists at a major media company, it doesn't mean that our blue-checked tweets should be considered 'reporting' or 'news.' That's just silly!"
Didn’t @brianstelter use the same methodology (Random Tweets) in his quest to have @POTUS diagnosed as unfit for office?
Yup. I member...
@brianstelter can Gaslight with the best of them!
Sorry Selter Bottle, people on Twitter who actually do RESEARCH (something you fake newsies ought to try) are FAR better reporters than anyone in the fake news media. Any frigggin day.
It's fair that as a journalist, you make a distinction because Trump used the word "reported", but I'd say most laypeople will see tweets from reporters and not appreciate the difference. And those reporters with big followings are not "random Twitter commentators".
Thank you for talking about accountability. Here's you and a WaPo columnist both making this 'Missing Melania' hysteria into 'news'.pic.twitter.com/RgTQUH8ktO
You've identified a major problem with contemporary journalism, here -- and you don't even realize it (presumably because you're among the biggest causes of the problem): Journalists are spreading misinformation on social media without oversight and without consequences.
