A few thoughts: Sam Bee's comment is not in the same realm as Roseanne's, and doesn't merit the same kind of coverage. This type of discussion on CNN helps legitimize the narrative of victimization that the White House likes to partake in, despite their own vulgarity
-
There are a lot of urgent issues worth covering in this administration and climate, including the open racism (from the Trump admin. and Roseanne, part of the same thread), the constant lying and undermining of truth and media - which you do a great job covering.
-
I thought your 'let's call a lie a lie' segment was great. But it feels like two steps forward, two steps back, when one day we're talking about the lies and the next day we're letting the liars steer the conversation in this way.
-
Also: minutes of coverage of Roseanne still shouldn't outnumber minutes of coverage of the disaster in Puerto Rico, but this week, it does. (And one of the few people to go there recently and anchor a special? Samantha Bee.)

Funny how you can't be sure why the president isn't telling the truth and therefore might not want to say it's a lie but there's all the time to dissect why Samantha Bee said a particular word.

huh? the lead of my show last sunday was "trump is a liar." i discuss his dishonesty constantly. here's the transcript of last sunday's show. http://transcripts.cnn.com/TRANSCRIPTS/1805/27/rs.01.html …

And your point is...?

is this a 5 alarm fire of....whatever it is requiring a panel? Did you ask that question this time, or only when it's trump? Nah, you jump straight to alert mode because you think this is being evenhanded.

This is what counts as "balance" now. Someone on one side says something stupid, fill 24 hours up of shit flipping then find someone on the other side to do the same with for the next 24, and watch those sweet ratings tick up.

Better means similar coverage to Roseanne Barr's hateful tirade. You all missed on that. I wonder why? Oh, and was Bee fired by your bosses? Nope.
