I imagine a $250 million film underperforming had more to do with this than her show getting cancelled.

Solo didn't pull the $$ they hoped.

Yeah cause $100mil opening weekend is now “failure”. Get real
-
They didn't say a failure, but it was expected to do better which might have been an oversight with the weekend it was released on. There may have been many factors why it didn't make as much as they wanted.
-
Yup. Wall Street is about expectations. If you’re expected to make $100 in profit but make $50 in profit that’s seen as a loss

Most news outlets reported the dip long before the cancellation was announced.
@Reuters has a lot to answer for this afternoon -
The drop could have been from her tweets.
-
It could have been, but in all likelihood wasn’t. The entire market was down early today. It takes astronomical events for that share price to move...Avengers broke box office records and the price stayed put
-
Look at the insider trading from 9am to 1pm. They all knew the cancel was coming.
-
Lol You think a rumor of a likely cancellation of a sitcom would have more impact than a 200 million dollar movie that is part of a multi trillion dollar franchise tanking at the box office over the holiday weekend? Stock dumping due to Roseanne’s racism is no less likely

I have no doubt that economics factored into the decision by
@Disney and@ABCNetwork to cancel@RoseanneOnABC and the math goes a little something like this: The return on being 100% on the side of decency is INFINITELY greater than being 0%#MoralsMatterThanks. Twitter will use this to make your timeline better. UndoUndo

One of our tips for spotting bullshit is always consider multiple hypotheses. Reuters dropped the ball here.

See also correlation ≠ causation. Especially if the effect precedes its purported cause.
