i'm telling you what i hear from different groups of people. other groups have other views. is what i tweeted inaccurate?
a false equivalency, like "some people say the earth is round and other people say it's flat."
This does look like false equivalency. Either way, who cares what the masses demand for their hearts? Reporters need to report FACTS. Hate to quote them but remember “we report, you decide”? Why do you think that was appealing?
Think you need to make clear what your position and role is.
Why it looks like “both sides” is the reporting is the info only, w/o analysis. Seems to come w the territory for type of reporting Stelter does.
You are implicitly making these gropus equal. They aren't. Are you gonna report how NAMBLA feels about pedophilia laws with equal weight as any parent's group?
I suppose the tweet demonstrates the tough job journalists have in the current environment, but what's a journalist's job? Isn't part of it to call out liars when they lie? Or to debunk conspiracy theories when they are baseless?
So, it seems like the first critique goes directly to professionalism and the second seems irrelevant to your duties.
The above the fray stance certainly telegraphs: there are 2 equal sides, who knows what is true, my job not to call balls and strikes. I know journos hate that this is true. How about saying: first comment — not my job imho; second comment — not hateful to tell the truth
I “hear from people” that the earth is flat.
I'm sure that it is what you hear. But the first reaction has a basis in reality whereas the second does not. The 2nd reacts that way BECAUSE of what causes the people in the first group to react the way they do. Trump constantly attacks the media, creating 2nd response.
