putting them side by side like that is both-sidesing it. like theyre of equal weight and validity. "some people say this, others say that!"
How about this Brian?https://twitter.com/mikegraham57/status/1001474441409384448 …
Giving equal time & platform to 'Flat Earthers' and NASA Cartographers is not representing 'the truth' about a discussion of the planet. Your answer to Trump folk should be "we don't hate him, we give him a chance every day. He lies, that's a BIG deal as POTUS, and we say so."
Reporters report truth and facts. You putting these two examples of the “pressure “ journalists are under when doing their jobs is example A of the effectiveness of the strategy. If people think you “hate” Trump because you factually report misdeeds and lies, should you stop?
By presenting these differing views side-by-side with no contextualizing (i.e. he's in fact lying and lies often) it's akin to hosting a climate change debate with 1 scientist for each side. One side is objectively accurate and 1 is based on emotions
Did you compare their relative validity or did you position them to appear equally valid?
Nah...U def. "Both-Sides" it.....
maybe provide the context of just how large (vs noisy) a group the pro-Trump group actually is compared to the 'detractors'
Define the 4 groups used. The "Who" of your groups would show the intended bias unless of course your using Reliable Sources!
But it isn't your job to coddle people who want comforting lies, it's to report the truth. The biggest stories of the past century have been unwelcome ones; that's what journalism is for.
Yes there are different reactions but there only one truth. It’s either a lie or it isn’t.
It's weighing both on the same scale. And that is deception itself.
If you're accurately reporting on Trump's lies, Trump's base will just have to lump it.
