Please tell me this isn't a both sides thing.

Then maybe add something to the original tweet? The way you presented it certainly makes it seem that way.
-
i'm telling you what i hear from different groups of people. other groups have other views. is what i tweeted inaccurate?

a false equivalency, like "some people say the earth is round and other people say it's flat."
-
This does look like false equivalency. Either way, who cares what the masses demand for their hearts? Reporters need to report FACTS. Hate to quote them but remember “we report, you decide”? Why do you think that was appealing?

"both sides," he said, and considered his job done
-
nope. describing reactions from two different groups of people is not "both sides," it's "describing reactions from two different groups of people." in this case, there are at least 4 different groups with different reactions to this subject.
-
putting them side by side like that is both-sidesing it. like theyre of equal weight and validity. "some people say this, others say that!"

How about this Brian?https://twitter.com/mikegraham57/status/1001474441409384448 …

Which is more important as a journalist -- to support the truth or support a lie? It seems pretty clearcut to me.
-
the truth.
-
The truth is subjective. Facts are not. You should be reporting facts, and making it clear when these facts are assembled to create a 'truth'. Trump fans are manipulating you with the premise of their question "why do you hate Trump?" You should get out from under that premise.
-
BINGO! This is not a truth like a personal truth such as “I love pizza” or “I need to become a teacher” or whatever. There is no subjectivity. FACTS. Did something happen? Did it not? We don’t want or need opinions mixed in. Commentary should be CLEARLY LABELED AS SUCH!

@owillis here's the problem...Stelter's observations aren't inaccurate. A partisan doesn't have to deal with those who tell media "why you so mean to Trump." A media outlet...does. My understandings is Stelter was pointing out the gap? -
that's the whole problem though. One of those reactions is reality, one is a fantasy. Its not hard to deal with an adult saying the tooth fairy is real in the same way its not hard to deal with someone saying Trump is being unfairly criticized.
-
Amen. Also, if you’re a journalist/reporter grow a thicker skin and remember your purpose is to inform and reveal. If the delusions of a certain group are wearing on you, please talk to a therapist. Not being sarcastic. I empathize on a personal level.
