Going on CNN with @brianstelter to talk about Trump lying and false-claim-ing

I think you give the President (who is known to lie profusely and often) a pass when you call a lie a fib. I'm curious what do you consider a fib? The President denying a security expert's briefing is not a fib. That's a lie.
-
i think he "fibbed" when he said it was sunny during his inauguration speech, when in fact it was rainy. he either didn't know about the briefing (falsehood, etc) or he lied about it.
-
No boo, that's a lie. An intentional misleading which is a lie.
-
this is what my A block was all about today. IMHO, we should distinguish between different types of dishonesty. a 1 alarm fire versus a 5 alarm fire. i acknowledged that folks frequently disagree on which is whichhttps://www.cnn.com/videos/cnnmoney/2018/05/27/stelter-how-to-tell-when-trump-lies-rs-sot.cnn/video/playlists/reliable-sources-highlights/ …

I disagree. When one is a pathological liar--the point is to confuse and undermine. You're playing into that and you should do better.
-
Your view was represented on today's "Reliable." I'm surprised you don't see value in, say, distinguishing from a "dumb" misstatement and a disturbing, dangerous one. They're not all the same.
-
I recognize that the "dumb" comments can still be destabilizing & make people feel like there's an assault on truth. but not everything Trump says is a lie. Let's not give up on nuance!
-
Nobody is asking you to “give up on nuance.” But when you lot can’t call out the obvious, demonstrable lies for what they are, then we think nuance is just a shield you’re hiding behind to insulate you from accountability.

The last time I used the word 'fib' I was looking at a small child who had stuffed her face with chocolate cookies and was denying it. 'Fib'--after the age of 9--is inappropriate.
-
@HillaryClinton: labeled a "liar" in regards to landing under sniper fire and the private email server@realDonaldTrump: given nonstop benefit of the doubt, despite over 3000 established LIES in his first year in office NOTED!

With all due respect, 3 and 4 year olds “fib” .. 71 years old men “lie.” In order for the country to get better, we need a strong 4th Estate. PLEASE.

A “fib” is when you say you like the dress when you don’t. A tall tale is when you take a grain of truth and spin it like a grain of sugar into a confection with little substance. A lie is when an accurate, fact-checked report is labeled “fake news.”

Underrated tweet, Charlie.

He made his political career on a heinous racist lie that President Obama wasn’t born here. He’s a liar. Have the decency to say it

What is your def of a fib vs lie! Dictating your doc note? Crowd size? Illegal voting? Spying? Russian contacts? Drafting Don Jr letter? Releasing tax returns? John Miller? Voice on pussy tape? Saying he wasn’t making fun of disabled reporter? Constant lying about spec counsel?

He is the president, not a 3rd grader. If he states something is true when it isn’t, he is lying. Why is there even a debate about this?
