When they say “sanctuary cities” they want you to think cities not obeying federal law. What is really happening is city police departments are declining to serve as a federal deportation force, because it’s a stupid and inhumane law enforcement strategy.

Thank you for this "passed over" fact. I'd rather local cops take care of local crime.

Also, it is well-settled that the Feds can’t force local authorities to act as their deputies.

Scalia (the right's ideal justice) wrote (for majority) that "the Fed. Gov. may neither issue directives requiring the States to address specific problems, nor command the States's officers to . . . administer or enforce a federal regulatory program." Printz v. US (1997).

Can't answer to the naming, but they do it so communities on the edge will actually call the police on criminals instead of simply fearing the police.

Senator, I am very upset about the persecution of volunteers leaving water for border crossers, as well as ICE''s tampering with jugs. ICE's actions are inhumane and demonstrate depraved indifference.

Thank you for writing this. I had no idea this was happening to volunteers. I just read up on it.
