I’m not trying to pretend to be some sort of legislative mastermind but we don’t have to negotiate with people who are going to vote against the bill no matter what.

Exactly. More Dems need to think along these lines. If there’s no good faith intent to negotiate, then those people shouldn’t be at the table to begin with.

Yes. Any stimulus package inevitably helps Trump, so you have ALLLL the leverage.

Sadly, this is a mistake Democrats often make. “Let’s start out with a compromise proposal” is a failed strategy when the GOP is going to vote against it, anyway. Democrats should ask for everything we need (& then some) & work from there. The GOP doesn’t care about any of us.

Just remember, the republicans think unemployed Americans are doing what the Republicans in Congress always do; steal the money! We are spending every penny trying to survive, not hoarding money given to us by tax breaks for the 1%
