The idea that we can intervene either diplomatically or militarily to get DPRK to change its mind about their nuclear program is based on a fantasy. Or worse, it’s being propagated who want diplomacy to fail in order to advocate for war.

No one wants to use the word “containment” because it sounds insufficiently tough, but once DPRK could reach the US mainland, this is where we are. This is a bad approach. It’s just that it’s better than war on the Korean Peninsula.

I’m glad we are doing diplomacy. This is better than war. But we need to do it well, and we need to resist the temptation to render judgement next week either based on limited information or our own partisan disposition. (End)

There's no 'we' going into the meeting with NK. There's only Trump. The reason it's only Trump is that Trump is not, inter alia, a team player. Trump thinks he's King. Trump also thinks he knows all the answers. Trouble is: He doesn't know the questions.

I'm just hoping NK doesn't let Mr Kim back in the country. The generals take over, and open the country up. China had the strength to manage the situation and SK the wealth to rebuild and reunify Korea. Best thing Trump can do is be a patsy.
