Hi friends, I am thrilled to announce that my book, Talk Radio's America, is now available for pre-order now. As you may know, pre-orders are crucially important to the success of a book, and I'd very much appreciate it if you might consider pre-ordering.

Pretty sure every user should have to have this. And I’m not sure I’d let them share it without a warning label that says: “This Post Contains False Information”

  6. A reminder: the media should temper things when discussing what Iowa means. As our today explored, candidates bank on the media overhyping the Iowa result to create momentum. But worth noting that 20% or 25% in a relatively tiny state in a

Do you know what would be a more efficient, likely fairer version of democracy in today’s world? Mail-in ballots. For a primary.

This is all sounds very reasonable, until considering that, unlike Manchin, she’s not calling censure. This is unlike impeachment or revenue bills. The Senate could vote for censure. Instead, Republicans choose to allow Trump to face 0 consequences.

That's right. Rush has been a terrible person. If you think being cruel to a sick person makes you terrible, you shouldn't be like Rush. Otherwise, you are like Rush.

Donald Trump has done a lot of bad, but this is an area where he’s moving us in the right direction, even if more slowly & haltingly than I might like.

Would be a major mistake. SOTU draws in viewers far beyond his base. Someone with impulse control would keep his vindictiveness to his tweets, and read whatever traditional address his aides write. I am not expecting this however.

One thing that I’d beg people about the caucuses (I feel like with exit polls): be patient. Wait until we have final results. Often times in history we’ve jumped to conclusions about the caucuses & it has skewed perceptions.

3/untethers him from traditional constraints in non-wartime & runs the real risk that were he to become a wartime president, he would have powers to crush dissent even greater than those wartime presidents in the past.

2/starting with FDR & continuing until the president, under both parties. And Trump escaping impeachment or any consequence for behavior that likely would’ve been considered unacceptable by earlier administrations in this period, & his party basically saying, we’re fine with that

1/I think Jay makes a valid point. BUT while wartime always enhances the power of the president, hence Wilson’s crackdown on dissent, FDR & internment & Truman dropping the bombs. Yet, historians would tell you that the power of the presidency has expanded dramatically

Very interesting take. Mike knows Congress as well as anyone, and seems to be saying that in spite of the rhetoric from Rubio, Alexander, etc, they would vote against censure. Which exposes their rhetoric as meaningless nothing.

This is why censure would be a very big deal.
