No but you can get a birth certificate that shows a different sex than the one you were born with and you are then entitled to the legal protections that go with that.
Change in the law on gender recognition certificates will make no difference to use of changing rooms

1. How can you say that? Add self id to the general confusion about what trans means and sex protections fall apart. Take a recent case of a trans person sat in a girls/women's sauna with legs apart and penis/testicles on dislplay.
-
This has not happened previously in sex protected saunas - I know because I use them and have done for over 40 years. I have never seen a woman sat with her legs open in front of children. I have no idea if that man had a GR cert , only that he said he identified as a woman.
-
So going back to my blue badge anaology. People with diability need ato fulfil criteria to get the documentation to get a badge. Self id does not have clear criteria - so what entitles a man to use a hitherto sex protected space , previously reserved for females.?
-
Answering my own question. Any man will be entitled ,because all he has to do is say he identifies as a woman. If anyone disputes this, please tell me how it will work. If a man enters a female space and says he self ids. What then?

You should read this, by someone who knows the law relating to toilet provisionhttp://manfridayuk.org/2018/04/27/the-problem-with-gender-neutral-toilets/ …
-
EXCELLENT in every way. "Women have less than half the level of provision of public toilets as men for sexist historical reasons" "Toilets are segregated for good reason. " BUT also says couple of gender neutral cubicles are needed too. READ IT!

This is a great article by an expert. I want to especially support what this article says about menstruation. and privacy for girls. Schools need sex sergegated toilets mote than anywhere else. Nothing to stop schools also have gender neutral cubicles as well.
