Again, brilliant description of personality & individual differences. But, again, how does a state legislate based on personality? Biological reality? Tangible fact. Identity? Personal & ever-shifting.

What happens to our bodies also affects our minds and vice versa. In the first scenario he would also be affected psychologically. In the second, it would also affect the way he presented to people. And any change can affect a relationship.

Body and mind aren't so easily separated, it's more complex than that.

I'd also say that we need self acceptance of both our psychological make up, and our bodies to feel at home in who we are. I suspect very few of us feel that comfortable with our entire identity.

Both. Anyone who has had any physical impairment could tell you that it changes how you feel about yourself. But it's also individual - someone may be more linked to their mind/feelings. Others to their physical being.
