Condemning people for being transphobic, vile, hurtful & divisive is being transphobic? Saying there are hateful & sensible people on both sides is transphobic. Saying people in masks blocking people meeting is transphobic?

As a liberal I do not believe you should obstruct people's human rights to assembly & free speech by force - you should take them on in open debate or report criminal speech to the police. You define @Womans_Place_UK in that way. I've only met 2 of them & it was not their purpose

I'm not supporting any group. I'm supporting people's right to free speech & assembly. I met 2 people from the group in question TOGETHER WITH 4 others including 3 trans women. The representatives said they wanted to protect trans rights. I've made no comment about the group.

And the people you *haven't* met are, I repeat, *your own party's LGBT+ group*. Unsurprisingly, if the only trans people you'll meet with are the ones who are willing to be in a room with a hate group, you will come away with a positive impression of that group.

Are two different things being debated? A set of rights/issues specific to transwomen/transmen; and a separate set of rights, to be addressed in different ways, for other trans people? Non-binary ppl aren't interested in access to stuff specifically for women, presumably?

There is no single movement but in a very broad way I'd agree, except it's MUCH messier about who is interested in what. Many WPUK types seem to support NB-type rights BUT also deny NB identities, and instead read binary trans women as what we'd call NB or perhaps "third gender".

There's an important distinction too between practical stuff and what's going on other people's heads - none of us are allowed inside another person's head - what we do and say can be governed by the law - but never what we think.
