Some of us opposed it in Coalition, including some Tories in Cabinet as we heard this morning. The point is, we must stop using immigrants as a political football.

The labour party as is now is a very different beast to as it was then... very similar to the Tories - Thatcher was all for staying in the EU. Parties change, and so they should.
