RESIGNATION FROM @LGBTLD. In an ill-thought-through response to criticism that politicians were failing to engage, I inadvertently broke a promise I had made to @LGBTLD. This placed them in a difficult position. As a result I decided it was best for me to resign from @LGBTLD.

For clarity, in saying
@Womans_Place_UK had "genuinely-held concerns" I did not intend to convey that I agreed with those concerns or that they were justified - I have yet to form an opinion. Suggest you make up your mind very soon - Womans_Place_UK have "genuinely-held concerns" that reflect the views of many women who do not want to see their hard-earned rights eroded.

So sorry you are being put under this pressure Brian. This row is about the conflation of sex and gender. It seems painfully obvious that in a democracy, women - the oppressed 50% - should be allowed to express their concerns about this. Who is pushing for your resignation?

Im so sorry Brian. It is a pity. We need politicians who stand up against accepted orthodoxies and listen to the voices which are silenced, and marginalised. It is hard, and lonely, but what else are you in politics for?
