@mrjamesob @lbc just about to discuss closure of police stations. In London 38 are likely to close - difficult balance between buildings & officers but why not both? Why cut resources? Increased travel time etc

The reasons Police Stations were built in the locations where they are is as relevant today as when they were built. Bean counters don’t understand this or the principle of real policing.

From police perspective, most expensive resources are police officers. Making them travel further to patrol & process people arrested, by closing police stations, is a false economy. From public’s, police stations r like insurance policies - hopefully never needed but reassuring.
