Is there a feminist or group of feminists who is/are prepared to sit down with me & have a discussion about the issues surrounding trans women? I really don’t want to misrepresent either side in this.

Sounds like you might have already decided. No one is denying the existence of anyone.
-
People who deny trans women are women, who use the pronouns he and him when they use the pronouns she and her.
-
Not believing trans women are literally women and denying they exist at all are two very very different things.
-
What does literally mean? I’ve heard feminists say trans women are men. That sounds to me like saying trans women, in one sense, do not exist.
-
I don’t think Twitter is the best medium for this - if you are genuinely interested in what gender critical feminists think, and are willing to set aside the preconceptions that you obviously have, I think an offline discussion would be really fruitful.
-
“...preconceptions you obviously have” You maybe right in your views on gender politics, you may be more knowledgeable than me but you’re not bloody mind readers!
-
No, and it’s possible that you’re accidentally straying into the use of phrases which are frequently levelled at us in an attempt to paint us as bigots. It’s an unbelievably thorny area, no doubt about it. And like I said, Twitter isn’t great for things like this :/
-
Thanks! You’re right, and thanks for being reasonable. That whole denying existence language gets to me!

No feminist is denying the existence of Transfolk Brian
-
I’m sick to death of “all” this “no one” that. It’s simply not true. For the umpteenth time, this is what someone DM’d me: “Hello Brian, I'm a feminist, a lesbian and I don't acknowledge the existence of trans. Contact me if you fancy a chat Regards ...”
-
It’s quite possibly a question of semantics. For eg, I do not believe in Christ, but clearly Christians exist. I think the term is based on a false premise - some might potentially express that as Christians “not existing”.
-
I accept that but my point is different. People should speak for themselves. Unless they’ve asked every woman, feminist, man, whatever, they cannot say “no feminist thinks x” or even “the majority of feminists think x”. “I’ve never met a violent woman”
“Women aren’t violent”
-
Also, I have yet to see any violent threats from so called TERFS to Transfolk or Transactivists. I have seen dozens and dozens of death, rape and violent threats against women. This has spilled over into real life on at least 3 occasions. These are all personal observations/ views

No existence is denied, but the hyperbole and accusations of bigotry have led to this view. I personally believe gender is damaging and limiting nonsense. Few female spaces we have r there for a reason, as some women are vulnerable, and because of male violence.
@Womans_Place_UK -
And http://terfisaslur.com is worth a browse to see the abuse aimed at gender critical women. Plus of course actual harassment and violence.
-
And there are examples of violence and intimidation in the other direction, I am told. To say there is no violence other than male violence is not credible. Overwhelming it is male violence but not exclusively.
-
"I am told" Well, if you're going to behave as if it exists - shouldn't you check first? Relying on what you are 'told' is a risky way to proceed. Did you never fact-check when you were the police?
-
Several instances of violence and intimidation from trans activists. The idea that there is violence on “both sides” is wrong. You might want to look at the assault at Hyde Park and incidents on the Bectu picket line, the anarchist bookfair, etc. Venues are threatened.
-
In the US, transactivist Dana Rivers, who played a part in having the women’s festival Michfest closed down for not allowing pre-op ‘transwomen’ in, is facing the death penalty for stabbing and shooting a lesbian family. The murdered women were Michfest attendees.

We have archives of death threats, threats of sexual violence, fantasies of killing feminists and our children and using our body parts. http://Terfisaslur.com is a start. Here is some of the milder stuff.pic.twitter.com/ZpbCvZ7g7k
