#ISupportTransEqualityBecause I imagine having the courage to be open about being born in the wrong body, the courage to transition to the right sex & then the hurt & pain when people then deny you’re the sex you’ve always truly been, despite all you’ve been through.

I don't think so. There used to be a fashion for lobotomies, many years later it was found they were causing brain injuries. People who don't feel they fit in with sexist stereotypes need support and acceptance. What they don't need is off-label chemo drugs causing infertility

My understanding is the majority who seek to transition are adults. I have concerns about children making life-changing decisions but I would want to consider the two issues separately if possible.
-
They are two separate issues, but there are still serious complications with the surgeries that adults have. For example, I have just tweeted about a phalloplasty surgeon who caused tears in the bowels and urethras of his 'transmen' patients.

Put it this way. Would you support the child I was to bleach their skin as I temporarily did to make up for the way society treated me when I was a kid? Would you pour millions in safer skin bleaching to "help me" rather than change the society to accept me as I am?
-
I keep asking this question to no avail - When did it become acceptable to change individuals to fit socially crafted system rather than the other way round? You'd be surprised at how much you may learn even from those you openly disavow for their purported "anti-trans" stance.

I know you're not, Jacky, but phrases such as "There is no such thing as trans" (which I have heard) are easily picked up and, **away from their contextualised nuance** can easily be used by the trans community to accuse us of denying their lived experience.
-
Which is why, Brian, on hearing that, classes us all as extremists, bigots, and whatever else. I'm not saying it's right or correct or accurate. I'm saying that's part of what's been happening.

Don't say that. We do. The climate has been created to demonise us not matter what we say and the press rarely gives us a right of reply. Brian needs to understand that too. Trans voices are with us too. They'd not be if we really were the monsters we're made out to be.

The NHS has in the past spent millions on homeopathic treatments whose efficacy is entirely mythical.
-
Let's not forget the PACE trial which also cost the NHS millions and resulted in thousands of people having their condition worsened

It's a business. Children don't need hormones because they play with the wrong toys or have friends who are a different sex. They're told they do. As are the parents. It's a business. Your hashtag is the marketing.
