Feelings don’t = fact. Just because someone has gender reassignment surgery doesn’t mean I or anyone else has to put aside facts and believe they are the opposite sex. That’s not transphobia, just an interpretation of the facts available

sex doesn’t = gender

-
Gender- the state of being male or female, particularly in reference to cultural and social differences. Prior to recent years, gender was the expression of a persons sex
-
So it’s the expression of a person’s sex. Well guess what, trans people are expressing their true sex, culturally & socially, by their behaviour and the way they present to the world.
-
Definitions are important. Your true sex is determined by your reproductive function/chromosomes. This is not a value statement on whether it’s right or wrong to be trans, just an objective fact. Google the definitions if needed.
-
Of course, the ultimate arbiter of definitions is google
-
Male and female created he them; and blessed them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.... that is all...
-
Thanks for that!

But what scientific fact supports this notion? Happy to support those who are gender non- conforming, but that does not mean that men should be able to enter female prisons, etc. Open your eyes with regards to the damage Lupron (i.e. puberty blockers) can do - even in adults.

So the NHS & other medical professionals spend £millions on gender reassignment on the basis of a complete myth. The government allows people to change the sex on their birth certificates & passports to support fantasies. Surely there’s more to it?
-
I don't think so. There used to be a fashion for lobotomies, many years later it was found they were causing brain injuries. People who don't feel they fit in with sexist stereotypes need support and acceptance. What they don't need is off-label chemo drugs causing infertility

My understanding is the majority who seek to transition are adults. I have concerns about children making life-changing decisions but I would want to consider the two issues separately if possible.
-
They are two separate issues, but there are still serious complications with the surgeries that adults have. For example, I have just tweeted about a phalloplasty surgeon who caused tears in the bowels and urethras of his 'transmen' patients.

Try to imagine the hurt and pain felt by women who don't want to be called 'cis' and hate being called bigots just because they don't want to cede our hard-won gains to aggressive self-centered males in dresses. Can you? Why are trans feelings the only ones that matter?
-
Why now, 2 weeks later, after all the discussions & progress, do you bring this up again now? Because you want to be deliberately provocative & misrepresent my position. Well, I’m not having it or you on my timeline.

This tweet is just full of nonsense rhetoric. 1) There's no evidence for "born in the wrong body" 2) Given the rate at which women (vagina people) are oppressed by men (penis people), lots of us feel that we've been pretty bloody unlucky with the deal we get from our bodies.
-
3) "the sex you’ve always truly been"- this makes zero sense. Biological sex is a physical reality; the whole point of 'transgender' is that the person's bio sex is considered incongruent with their 'gender identity'. People with female bodies cannot be trans women.
-
Like so many privileged men, you're opting to trot out approved emotive rhetoric for easy-won cookies rather than actually delving into the issue. Women are crying out for a closer examination of this subject, but I fear it's all too much like hard work for MPs.
