Coming into that analysis with preconceived ideas and prejudices (eg a belief that S&S is useless and used by racist cops) is not... It's JUST as dangerous as an investigator who doesn't keep an open mind... It creates a "miscarriage of research"...

I don’t think that’s fair. If the stats show no correlation between s/s & knife crime & stats show you’re 5x more likely to be s/s if black, doesn’t necessarily mean s/s is “useless” or that cops are “racist”. The question has to be asked, “what’s going on?” Inconvenient truths.

The stats DO show (very clear) correlation! And Hales doesn't just ask the questions / interrogate the methodology behind the stats looking for sources of error (which a competent, objective proper academic researcher would). He has demonstrated bias against S&S & police using it

In her reply she says "The police told us last year the number of additional police officers needed to do their job"... You need to pursue this! It's either (a)
#ToryLies or (b)@PoliceChiefs need to be exposed for telling Govt what Govt wants to hear!

I know... Which (a) allows Govt to avoid the question / lie with impunity (see also
#PMQs - has, May actually ever answered a single question from anyone but a Tory???) & (b) renders the whole thing a total waste of time... And they kerp saying the police need Reform...

We said in response to the police settlement that we welcomed the ability to increase budgets but that it did not fully provide what we assessed to be needed - https://news.npcc.police.uk/releases/todays-policing-settlement-is-better-than-last-year-but-does-not-fully-meet-the-level-of-investment-identified-as-necessary …
