The police should not be social justice warriors. They should be catching criminals and bringing them to justice.https://twitter.com/edwardjdavey/status/972375088392785921 …

Most people would rather the focus was on policing the streets than tweets.
-
That reply doesn’t even make sense.
-
Nor does turning a blind eye to the misuse of drugs act when your boyfriend is using and you are a police commander.
-
Your profile: “My views don’t always represent considered opinions”. Thanks for explaining your tweet!
-
The clue is in the words “Do not always”, not never! Did I point out something that was factually incorrect?
-
Yes you did. I did not turn a blind eye. I took all reasonable steps to stop him & in the end got rid of him - 18 months before he went to the papers.
-
If he had been a shoplifter or a burglar would you have adopted the same approach or used your Warrant Card? Or was it more to do with your own attitude towards drugs laws?

We do. We've seen exactly how it works, in dozens of places like
#Rotherham. That's the problem. -
That’s a different point & I accept it’s a good one. Fact is, policing by consent relies on police building trust & confidence with public especially traditionally hostile communities. Devastation of community policing undermines all policing from minor crime to terrrorism.
-
Not convinced is a different point. Documented instances of police actually handing back underage girls to their abusers. Precisely cos 'building trust & confidence with traditionally hostile communities'.. But they still dont trust police. And now nor do most others. 1/

I don’t accept the facts as you state them

What do you think of these facts?https://twitter.com/HarrietSergeant/status/974398755775680514?s=19 …

Brian, perhaps you could tell us about Common Purpose in the Police Force ? If you're not sure, ask Cressida Dick who is Common Purpose trained along with Hogan Howe and Hogg. You must think we're completely daft.
-
Perhaps you can explain?

Policing today is let down by Justice dept by bailing serious offenders and giving out pathetic sentences, they will blame guidelines.
-
Certainly doesn’t help
