This is true Lee, and having met and had a beer/wine with Gavin, I can assure you Peter he’s not anti police. Being slightly more emotionally detached is prob a good way to conduct analysis...

Coming into that analysis with preconceived ideas and prejudices (eg a belief that S&S is useless and used by racist cops) is not... It's JUST as dangerous as an investigator who doesn't keep an open mind... It creates a "miscarriage of research"...

I don’t think that’s fair. If the stats show no correlation between s/s & knife crime & stats show you’re 5x more likely to be s/s if black, doesn’t necessarily mean s/s is “useless” or that cops are “racist”. The question has to be asked, “what’s going on?” Inconvenient truths.

The stats DO show (very clear) correlation! And Hales doesn't just ask the questions / interrogate the methodology behind the stats looking for sources of error (which a competent, objective proper academic researcher would). He has demonstrated bias against S&S & police using it

I haven’t seen the stats but what I do believe is that fewer police officers visible on our streets leads to an environment where criminals think they can act with impunity, it degrades police-community relations & makes us all less safe from crime & terrorism.

You’re spot on. SNTs could potentially have prevented the London Bridge terrorist attack - neighbour described how the ringleader was asking questions about hiring a van without a credit card & being “over-friendly”. He may have mentioned it to local officers if there’d been any.

Didn't this shower of a government recently spew out some figures suggesting that under their stewardship the % of front line officers has gone up. 🤣🤣🤣🤣

They do it consistently... They quote PERCENTAGES rather than NUMBERS to mislead the public! 75% of 200 cops on frontline is 150 actual cops. 80% of 150 cops on frontline after 25% cuts is, er, 120 actual cops - higher percentage but fewer cops... They do it S&S arrest rates too!
