Am I the only one who finds this massively disappointing? On so many levels.https://twitter.com/brianpaddick/status/946451015603249153 …
I think you’ll find I did. However, I am saying there has been an increase in ‘public space’ crime as a result of withdrawal of police presence not a general increase in crime because of fewer police.

You said 'The theory I’m putting forward is the lack of uniformed presence on the streets is creating a culture where violence increases'. It isn't clear from that whether you meant public or private violence. Just so we're clear, can you define 'public space' crime?
-
Slight aside, you said 'one' of the group said seeing SNT made her feel safer - what about the rest of the group?

She gave the anecdote and there were nods around the room. Again, not very scientific but accords with previous visit to PRU where pupils said they wanted police to take knives off the street. (They took me to a murder scene on their estate when they talked about it.)

Anecdote is certainly useful, and well done for actually speaking to young people about street violence. How about going into YOIs and talking to people about what might make them think differently?
