Am I the only one who finds this massively disappointing? On so many levels.https://twitter.com/brianpaddick/status/946451015603249153 …
We crossed-over there. It points to police resources being diverted away from serious crime investigation (not community policing from additional resources) & negative impact of heavy-handed policing. I’m not advocating this. Safer Neighbourhood Teams working with communities

It points to the failure of aggressive policing of low level crimes (which is precisely what broken windows advocates) to reduce more serious crime If you are not advocating aggressive policing of low level crime - graffiti etc. - then you should stop saying broken windows.
-
The broken windows theory is a criminological theory of the norm-setting and signaling effect of urban disorder and vandalism on additional crime and anti-social behavior, apparently.
-
'apparently'? Is this news to you?
-
No it’s news to you - it’s not necessarily about aggressive policing. It’s been interesting but I don’t think twitter is the place to continue this.
-
The NYPD study uses the terms proactive and aggressive interchangeably. Putting broken windows into practice has meant aggressive policing of disorder and low level crime with the aim of reducing serious crime. 'Twitter isn't the best place for this. Unless you agree with me.'
