Please explain. EU citizens cannot be stopped from entering Ireland (free movement of people) & if no border, they can then go to Northern Ireland & from there to the rest of the UK. So how do we stop uncontrolled EU immigration through Ireland after Brexit? Asking for a friend.
Thousands of Mexicans move to the USA every year with no prospect of legal employment or entitlement to welfare but they still do.

So, as a remainer, you are arguing that the only way to control EU immigration is a hard border. Without this, we have no control over immigration. You’re aware the Lib Dem’s said this view was false and racist?
-
No actually. One of the main arguments of the Brexit side was to take back control of our borders. If there is no border between the EU and the U.K. in Ireland, as May has promised, how can that happen? That’s the question. I want to Remain & allow free movement.

So you admit that we can’t control our borders whilst in the EU. Factory pay has increased since the vote due to the reduced numbers of unskilled EU migrants. You prefer lower wages for poorer British workers?
