Please explain. EU citizens cannot be stopped from entering Ireland (free movement of people) & if no border, they can then go to Northern Ireland & from there to the rest of the UK. So how do we stop uncontrolled EU immigration through Ireland after Brexit? Asking for a friend.

You do realise that the millions of citizens of non-EU countries with visa-free travel relationships with the UK have, what you are calling "freedom of movement"pic.twitter.com/IwqbFw4VgT

Visa free does not mean you don’t have to explain why you are in the U.K., how long you intend to stay, how you will support yourself, fill in an entry form etc. Will that be done after Brexit at the Irish border or the border between NI & the rest of the U.K.?

The UK-Ireland Common Travel Area has existed since 1923.

But we haven’t had free movement of EU citizens into Ireland since 1923!

EU "Freedom of Movement", despite the name, isn't actually about travel. It's about the automatic right to abode, right to work, right to medical treatment, right to benefits etc. These aren't border issues.

I assumed you understood this, which is why I accused you of "pretending to be stupid".
