Please explain. EU citizens cannot be stopped from entering Ireland (free movement of people) & if no border, they can then go to Northern Ireland & from there to the rest of the UK. So how do we stop uncontrolled EU immigration through Ireland after Brexit? Asking for a friend.

Have you ever experienced the surreal “internal border checks” in USA southern states, looking for “illegals” from Mexico? Pulling you over even though you’re well within the US... That could be us! What a regressive move.
-
It's reported over one million people cross the US-Mexican boarder every day. Do you care to Google the same figures for people crossing the Ireland-Northern Island boarder...?
-
Would have to look at the figure for EU citizens coming in and out of the entirety of the UK, not just Ireland.
-
As this is what we’re comparing. It’s not just Ireland leaving the EU. Also surely it’s not 1 million people illegally crossing over the Mexican border every day. This must include the legal crossings.
-
It's not what we're comparing at all. We have been discussing people travelling from Northern Ireland to the UK mainland. For your information the number travelling from Ireland to North Ireland is 30k. To compare this the the US-Mexican boarder is ridiculous.
