Are you pretending to be stupid for effect?

That’s your only answer? Pathetic but typical

You do realise that the millions of citizens of non-EU countries with visa-free travel relationships with the UK have, what you are calling "freedom of movement"pic.twitter.com/IwqbFw4VgT
-
Visa free does not mean you don’t have to explain why you are in the U.K., how long you intend to stay, how you will support yourself, fill in an entry form etc. Will that be done after Brexit at the Irish border or the border between NI & the rest of the U.K.?
-
The UK-Ireland Common Travel Area has existed since 1923.
-
But we haven’t had free movement of EU citizens into Ireland since 1923!

The best way to deal with illegal immigration is to have effective borders. Every country will tell you illegal immigration is very difficult to deal with once people who shouldn’t be are in country. And what about foreign criminals & others who don’t work?

I think the U.K. should stay in the EU, as do the majority of those in Northern Ireland. Then you don’t need a border.

It’s a problem for those who want to leave, not for those who want to stay. How are you going to deal with it?

ID check before they get on a boat or plane. If they're willing to swim, so be it.
-
That’s a border between Northern Ireland and the rest of the U.K. tha tthe DUP will not tolerate
-
No, it’s called checking ID. Just like we have to show ID if you want to fly from London to Manchester
-
Precisely.
-
There are currently no ID checks on ferries between the rest of the U.K. and Northern Ireland. I think you need to check with the DUP if they’re happy for that to be introduced.
-
Or we just wait 5 years and the next government can introduce them
-
You seem to think that it’s only a DUP problem and not a deeply-held view that effectively putting a border between Northern Ireland and the rest of the U.K. I order to avoid putting a border between Northern Ireland and the Irish Republic is totally unacceptable.
-
Give us an alternative then? They are two separate countries but have decided they did not want a border in the Island of Ireland which has been respected. They now have to compromise and respect we need checks somewhere
