I am astonished that a former police officer is allowed to retain his notes of an investigation after leaving the force, then wave them around in interviews ten years later and divulge private details of an individual when no law was broken

Is it standard practice for retired officers to retain evidence?

But you must admit the police are complicite in this non story. By revealing this info to the public they are opening up massive questions on how 'evidence' (in this case totally legal) can be used. What legal info do I have on my computer that can get me fired?
