Are you arguing that leaving the EU is not possible, or so difficult that it should not be attempted? So Britain is trapped in the EU whether we like it or not: we can never leave. Was that ever explained to people? Either when we joined or when we passed the point of no return?

The implications of Brexit weren’t thought through. People didn’t realise how complex it was going to be or how it would lead to problems such as the Irish border, for which there is no desirable outcome. Brexit far more damaging than remaining in the EU.

Thanks Brian. Your analogy was of removing the eggs from a cake, which is impossible. What you really think it’s that it’s possible but unwise?

"Someone suggested the Brexit process is like..." i.e. not my analogy. "Well its certainly going to be messy..." was my comment, which does not say I agree with the analogy taken literally.

It's more like removing the eggs from a cake, putting them back into their unbroken shells, and putting the eggs back into the chicken.

That only works if you assume the EU is now an indivisible entity, given the structures, a State. It is not - yet.
