Police in England and Wales to be asked if they want to carry a gunhttps://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/jul/27/police-in-england-and-wales-asked-whether-they-want-to-carry-a-gun?CMP=share_btn_tw …
Thought the argument was officers need to carry/must be armed to deal with threat? Is it necessary or not? Can't be "would you like one?"?

First responders certainly should but recognise not everyone can pass and shouldnt be sanctioned for that therefore this is best alternative
-
Wayne Marques & Keith Palmer wouldn't have been in the category of first responders, yet had they been armed....
-
The attack on Keith was so sudden & so vicious, unlikely he'd been able to draw weapon. Only armed officers behind him may have saved him.
-
Yet in case of PC Marques it may have saved lives

The question is phrased deliberately to get a negative response because command don't trust the troops with firearms. PDW should be a choice
