So Brian, do you really think that asking a politician what he thinks about gay sex is anywhere near as damaging as religious homophobia?

They are two completely different things. My views on the latter here: https://hansard.parliament.uk/Lords/2017-04-04/debates/B954F5D8-3021-4F93-BA5F-64936118F9FB/ChildrenAndSocialWorkBill(HL)#contribution-124225A6-487F-425B-B691-5E8D35DE1A48 …

I am simply a person of the left, wanting well-funded services & an integrated society, just looking for someone to vote for.

May's voting record is, on the other hand, as small-minded and discriminatory as one would expect. I do not compare the two.

This "issue" is/was a symptom of our modern craving for news, news and more news.
-
It does seem like 'news' abhors a vacuum- had to turn radio 4 off earlier. If only there were more pressing things going on in the world :/
-
I've pretty much given up seeking out news and feel much better for it. Classic FM, podcasts and radio docs on iplayer are much better!
-
You might be on to something there. News is just making me too grumpy these days.

The rule with politicians generally is don't watch their lips watch their feet. Try it with May, on all issues not justcthis one.

this is not the right forum for the discussion in full, but love and peace until we debate in person. X

Brian, I found that interview squeamish. Sorry you find that hard to hear. I fully acknowledge TF's LGBT voting record..

My problem with that article is the conflation of "secularist" with "antireligion". I know a bunch of religious secularists.

Had the question not been asked, repeatedly, he'd still be at the "we are all sinners" and abstaining from votes stage. Point needed making.
-
Simply not true. Voted for gay marriage 5th Feb 13 and abstained 21st May 13 due to bill not going far enough on Trans rights. Fact check!
-
He has gone from "we are all sinners" to "it is not a sin". A welcome change in his position, which we wouldn't know if he wasn't asked.
