I was replying to Arthur_S who trotted out the tired line about asking people the same question until you get the right answer. I’m absolutely in favour of a #PeoplesVote

We've already had a #PeoplesVote. Were you in favour of that one? #justasking

No I wasn’t. And I had some reluctance about a further one. But I have come to the conclusion that it is the only way to introduce an element of accountability to this process, which is essential for democracy. Certainly not perfect though, but we are where we are.

No, I’m not at all sure of that. As it stands, who is accountable for the effects of Brexit? The Tories?- many are remainers. Farage,Banks et al?- no direct control over negotiations. At the heart of the democratic process must be accountability. As it stands there is none.

The author of this farrago is Olly Robbins who reports directly to the PM and it is therefore she who must bear the ultimate responsibility for this mess.

But she was a remainer. She never wanted this in the first place. You may not think so, but what if this is the best deal she could get? Who then is accountable for Brexit?

She is accountable for the deal on the table. The alternative to this deal is not remaining but trading on the same terms as the USA and China who are Germany's largest trading partners.

Surprisingly, @theresa_may the U.K. Prime Minister said this week there are three (3) options: this deal, no deal or no Brexit. They are the alternatives.

Interesting point. ‘Taking back control’ means Parliament sovereign? If Parliament rejects current deal, that option is dead, leaving ‘no deal’ or ‘remain’. Parliament gave ‘leave’ or ‘remain’ decision away, so only people can make that decision, now they know the consequences.

I decided to move home but I didn’t know what the alternatives were or what it would cost. Having seen what’s available, the cost of stamp duty, estate agent fees etc., although I’m not happy where I am, I’ve decided I’m better off remaining. “Sorry, you decided to move.” Really?

If you had already signed a contract though that option might not be available. House of Commons voted 494-122 to trigger Article 50. If you want to have buyer's remorse perhaps you should wait a few years first rather than have cold feet when the removal van is in the driveway.

If you’ve signed the contract and then pull out, you lose your deposit. You’re not forced to go through with it and we shouldn’t be forced to go through with Brexit either, now we know what the options and the costs are.
