Whatever the allegation we must change the law to provide anonymity until charge with provision for the prosecution to apply to a crown court Judge to name a suspect when it’s in the interests of justice. #CliffsLaw @brianpaddick https://dailym.ai/2PBUo0R via @MailOnline

So would Arron Banks be protected under this?
-
Yes, but if he decides to put it into the public domain by doing a BBC interview, that’s up to him.

I am so relieved at your answer. I thought all sense had gone from my former party so thank you. You must be equally concerned about the way politicians are exhorting pressure on the police & public broadcaster as well then?

You're not going far enough. It should be about protection before conviction, not just the charge which could well be proven false. Only then would we return to some fairness in the procedure. Only this would really honour the culture of 'innocent until proven guilty'.

Laudable but this does not go far enough. People are innocent until proven guilty and deserve their privacy

For far too long innocent people have had their entire lives and families destroyed by being named before any charge or conviction has taken place - why the current law permits this beggars belief... it needs change NOW!
