July 2016. Norway introduces a new law which means anyone can change their "legal sex" on paper, simply by filling in a form. (1)
I'm told the Government do not intend to change the EA, either through legislation or in terms of its practical effect as a result of unintended consequences of changes to the GRA. Presumably if they are convinced of unintended consequences, they can legislate to stop them.

The EA allows for male-born people to be excluded from women's spaces. The GRA legally conceals a mans birth sex. The conflict is clear. Implementing the EA will be all but impossible if sex self-ID is passed.

Professionals who work in the women's sector also foresee problems. https://fairplayforwomen.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/09/FPFW_report_19SEPT2018.pdf …

Here are a range of legal experts discussing the issues and possible solutions. If women are to have the right to exclude males for privacy (changing rooms), safety (refuges, prisons), fairness (sports) we need a definition of female that excludes males!https://amp.theguardian.com/society/2018/oct/19/gender-recognition-act-reforms-six-legal-views-transgender-debate?__twitter_impression=true …
