Shocking moment this morning when journalists invited by @DavidTCDavies to hear MPs and feminists discuss #GRA issues @HouseofCommons were told MPs asked not to be named - for their own safety. @Womans_Place_UK @Transgendertrd @jameskirkup @Mermaids_Gender

Women must not have or express a contrary opinion. Dissent is not tolerated. If women had not spoken up forcefully on this issue do you honestly think anyone would have considered our position in all of this. You would have safely & comfortably ignored both us and our concerns
-
I listened to women’s voices because I knew
@K_IngalaSmith from when we met years ago to discuss violence against women & girls, before the GRA debate. I respected her & felt I should listen to her. Nothing to do with being assertive, aggressive or intimidating. About respect. -
Respected? Past tense?
-
Always & forever, even if we disagree on some things.

When you say "You are responsible" who exactly are you referring to Brian?
-
I’d love him to be more explicit on that.
-
Sorry that was a bit ‘broad brush’. I mean the way the debate is being conducted makes MPs wary of going ‘on the record’
-
That’s the problem. There is no debate, any efforts to debate this lead to cries of “transphobia” which then apparently justifies whatever response the TRAs fancy. I would be really interested to read some reasoned academic argument in support of self ID. I just get blocked.

You are joking yeah? As far as I can see it’s anyone critical of gender law changes that is being attacked.
-
Have you seen my twitter feed?!
-
Feels like the media is starting to pay attention
-
What on earth are you on about? The media has been publishing anti trans articles constantly for months, maybe years. They're as bigoted as you. Jesus wept...

And there it is. Women who speak out about threats to their safety are responsible for MPs being too frightened, of transactivists, to talk about threats to women's safety. Bingo.
-
Yes, and if there wasn't any dissenting voices the Govt would have implemented a poorly conceived shitty piece of legislation and sat there proud as a toddler sitting on their potty.

By "attacked" from the pro-woman side do you mean "called out on illogical and/or misogynistic arguments"?
-
"You are responsible for this" Women stating facts and questioning dismantling of laws and protections, safeguarding etc.. are responsible for being attacked, including attacks on others. Got it ... :/

Wow, textbook DARVO. "You are responsible for this". "You made me do it". Amazing. Complete lack of empathy and lack of insight into just why women might be frightened and angry at seeing their rights taken from them without their consent. It's scary.

You don’t get to dodge or pushing this on to us. You, politicians, are responsible for how this is conducted, you are responsible for making sure all groups are consulted. I know an accountability check is novel but you’ll have to take the failure to do this properly on the chin.
