Shocking moment this morning when journalists invited by @DavidTCDavies to hear MPs and feminists discuss #GRA issues @HouseofCommons were told MPs asked not to be named - for their own safety. @Womans_Place_UK @Transgendertrd @jameskirkup @Mermaids_Gender

Ok, fair point. It doesn’t alter the fact that intimidation is being deployed to close down discussion. It would be silly if it wasn’t so effective.
-
So essentially MP's are saying "You can name me as someone who won't speak up". Effectively maintaining the silence and thus complicity with those seeking to close down all discussion concerning women and girls.
-
Anyone who speaks on either side of the argument gets attacked. You are responsible for this, not MPs.
-
Women must not have or express a contrary opinion. Dissent is not tolerated. If women had not spoken up forcefully on this issue do you honestly think anyone would have considered our position in all of this. You would have safely & comfortably ignored both us and our concerns
-
I listened to women’s voices because I knew
@K_IngalaSmith from when we met years ago to discuss violence against women & girls, before the GRA debate. I respected her & felt I should listen to her. Nothing to do with being assertive, aggressive or intimidating. About respect. -
Respected? Past tense?
-
Always & forever, even if we disagree on some things.

Mr Paddick. Can I ask you a question. If you are so keen on trans rights why did you allow a law to be passed that denies a transman from inheriting a peerage. While that law stands your stance of transpeople being the gender they id as is a lie. Thanks
-
The Act Of Settlement 1701 or Succession to the Crown Act 2013? I wasn’t appointed to the House of Lords until after both pieces of legislation had been passed!
-
Yup. While the house a Lords refuses to recognise Transmen as men. You have no case. I, WE, will NOT recognise transwomen as women. The ball is in your court.. You have a fight on your hands. Toddle off now and go do some work.
-
This debate is descending into farce.
-
Yes. Things do tend to do that when people ask gaslighters and liers to back up their claims with actual real life actions.
-
I still don’t know what law I was supposed to have “allowed to pass” that prevents trans men inheriting a peerage and a “lier” is a person or object that rests in a horizontal position. I can assure you I don’t tweet lying down! See what I mean about farce!
-
You Sir, are lying face down with your head in the sand. Section 16 of the GRA 2004. Section 16 states: 'The fact that a person's gender has become the acquired gender under this Act (a) does not affect the descent of any peerage or dignity or title of honour.
-
Thanks for that. I didn’t get into the House of Lords until 2013 so I’ll just stick to my first answer. In 2004 I was a cop.

Only a handful of MPs are named. Otherwise the others, plus staff, are anonymous. Your point does not stand up. What other issue has MPs attending meetings has secretly? This is worrying and bizarre. I'd like to know if my MP went or would be happy to be named...
-
It does if you read my other tweets on the subject

It names 5 MPs out of the 27 who attended. Surely you can't disagree with the overall point that voices against GRA reform are being silenced and if they speak accused of bigotry? No acknowledgement of a tension with womens rights has been allowable in the public domain. Why?
-
Surely you can’t disagree with the overall point that voices in favour of GRA reform are being silenced and if they speak accused of bigotry? It is not an acceptable situation whichever way you look at it.
-
I don't agree with that! Its only today that Guardian has mentioned any potential issues with the GRA reform and womens rights. Only Spectator and Times covered (largely left wing) womens voices. Meetings pro GRA reform have not been picketed by masked activists.
-
And also bomb threats were made when women tried to have meetings to discuss. Also instigated boycotting of venues hosting these meetings such as the mercure hotel. But yet the women are at fault! Seriously it is a disgrace.
