The @metpoliceuk caught out again trying to cover up the truth. Does no favours to those on frontline trying to do difficult job in testing times. Snr Management should get a grip & recognise damage they're causing. @ucpinquiry @brianpaddick @Peter_Kirkhamhttps://twitter.com/wudzee0/status/1043034248842629126?s=21 …

The full extent of this, including the number of victims can not even come close to being understood unless the @ucpinquiry release cover names. Our democracy desperately needs transparency in this. Police 'aware' undercover officer was in relationship http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45596432 …

Yes appalling behaviour but those criticising the Met's SDS should recognise the difficult & dangerous job many did in respect of extreme right & left wing groups + those linked to the IRA. Those ex-cops are still, in effect, 'under investigation. '

I would never criticise genuine deployment & the professional supervision of UC Operatives. The issue exposed yesterday relates to the Met being caught out laying the blame solely at UC Officer level. This is damaging to this discipline, the Service & those that face the Public.

Cover officers and line management are sergeant rank maximum, and not involved in authorising conduct. Not bosses or "management" (perhaps unfortunately, as it means blame is still being dumped on those at the bottom)

PC (former soldier) told me about his experience: The difference between the police & the army was the commanding officer took responsibility when things went wrong in the army but the police pushed responsibility down as low as possible to protect senior officers. Sad but true.

Evidenced by the battle #SpyCops Victims and Campaigners have had exposing the truth about Senior Management's knowledge and involvement. The @ucpinquiry must now act robustly in light of these recent revelations.

If there is a fuck up in the navy, the commanding officer gets court martialled NOT the junior ranks. He/she is the leader, something which escapes most police senior officers.

But the majority of senior managers in the police are absolutely NOT leaders. People only follow them out of curiosity.

When I left the Army in 1988 to join the police I was so impressed with police senior officers. Much better than the officers I had served under in the military. How the tables have turned.
