The @metpoliceuk caught out again trying to cover up the truth. Does no favours to those on frontline trying to do difficult job in testing times. Snr Management should get a grip & recognise damage they're causing. @ucpinquiry @brianpaddick @Peter_Kirkhamhttps://twitter.com/wudzee0/status/1043034248842629126?s=21 …

The full extent of this, including the number of victims can not even come close to being understood unless the @ucpinquiry release cover names. Our democracy desperately needs transparency in this. Police 'aware' undercover officer was in relationship http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-45596432 …

Yes appalling behaviour but those criticising the Met's SDS should recognise the difficult & dangerous job many did in respect of extreme right & left wing groups + those linked to the IRA. Those ex-cops are still, in effect, 'under investigation. '

I would never criticise genuine deployment & the professional supervision of UC Operatives. The issue exposed yesterday relates to the Met being caught out laying the blame solely at UC Officer level. This is damaging to this discipline, the Service & those that face the Public.

Agreed. Previous @metpoliceuk statement ambiguous: "The forming of a sexual relationship by an undercover officer would never be authorised in advance." NB “in advance”. Senior officers allowed these sexual relationships to continue if they were already underway but how senior?

On that premise once a Snr Officer knows that one sexual relationship has taken place and does nothing to call a halt this gives a green light to other UC Operatives. This is Snr Mangt failure and complicity.

Knowing the nature of the SDS I doubt whether other u/c officers would be aware but who knew what amongst senior officers is one strand of the ongoing enquiry which involves all now retired SDS officers incl those who had dangerous deployments.

If the Police are not seen by the Public to be open, honest and above board this makes it very difficult for those Officers who face the Public on a daily basis to have their trust, support and confidence. These are fundamental requirements of our Police Services. #SpyCops

Misbehaviour by a handful of SDS officers years ago is already in the public domain. I will suggest from the various polls that despite constant criticism, be it justified or not, the police stock with the public is higher than ever.

12 Women have successfully sued the Met, many waiting in the wings & if other identities are released who knows how many more, this amounts to much more than a handful. You must move in different circles to me if you believe that about Police stock.

Good grief. The SDS was a small unit with relatively few officers. Some of those were female. Why not wait for the results of the enquiry. I now some ex-SDS and the dangers they faced & what they achieved. The Met are resisting IDing them all as it would put some at risk.

That info would be privy to a mere handful if that, that doesn't mean to say that the current management, many of whom I have little time for, are covering these issues up. What they have been covering up are details of the 300+ stabbings a month.
