The real question is who made the decision to remove the static armed post on the main entrance? Much more to be asked about the decisions at palace of Westminster.

No, they don't need to be greeted by a 'heavily armed police officer'. The officer can have a handgun, if worn discreetly people wouldn't even notice it. Those that did might feel reassured perhaps.

We are wasting our time. Trench dodgers and media luvvies like Wettone and Paddick don’t get it. Maybe because the last time they were in a dangerous spot and needed to defend themselves was.....when?

-
Wind your neck in....trench dodger? You know nothing about my career. 'We' are wasting our time? What do you do in policing? Feel free to DM me....
-
I’m just a member of the public with strong views on law and order, Graham. Don’t like seeing our streets turn to shit and our police asked to do an impossible job.

Policing should not have anything to do with politics. It's about security, & maintaining law and order. If you need armed officers, use them. Politicians interference with policing for their own political agendas is what has adversely affected it at everyone's expense.

How on earth does having properly equipped police officers undermine ‘open democracy’?! That view is nonsense on a breathtaking scale. And if open democracy is defeated by having such armed police then why do we have them at all?! Time to get real. This isn’t the 1950s.

....and it is down to outdated, stuffy, officious views like yours that indirectly lead to the death of an unarmed poliicmen. If he was properly equipped and able to defend himself he would be alive today. You are out of touch - just like all the top police chiefs.
-
Think you need to read his tweets again. Mr Paddick is not an out of touch police chief & has been supportive of the officers at pow.
-
No Graham. I don’t need to read again. I believe he IS a (former) out of touch police chief and I know he supports the police in his own head. But his comment on our open democracy hinging on having an unarmed helpless cop at PoW is utter lunacy. Think you need to read again!
-
No, I really don't.
