So the difference btwn pension & pay is being offered = £800 per month or £5 ph which is shockingly less than the minimum wage so what exactly is the incentive. Which means you are effectively paying yourself. Yep appealing...must have been a graduate that thought that one up

Why wouldn't they go back with pension frozen and 1/3 salary... oh wait...

It’s a younger persons game! My last two days were 14 hour shifts! Loved the job and the people but it was getting tougher!

Not worth it as they’d try and take your pension out of your pay and would any of us seriously want to do nights again.

Of course so many go back as civilians in temporary roles and others sell their services as consultants, this is hard evidence that retirement at c50 is unsustainable.
-
Not the point. Normal retirement age for all on the newer schemes is now 60, even on the 1987 scheme few actually retired at 50, and the scheme was worked out actuarially accurately at the time in terms of life expectancies, so, no.
-
Respectfully, I give an input into our pre retirement course, the vast majority are around 50 and almost all are going on to other work.
-
Respectfully, that was never the case (not every old school police officer joined <= 20 years of age!), and is certainly not the case now. If there needed to be pension changes (I would agree some were actuarially necessary) they could be made far more equitably..

Has to be within the last 2 years or their PIP will have expired - that other genius invention of the college or its pre-cursor.
