Parents have a responsibility. Some parents are irresponsible or unable to care properly for their children (e.g. doing 3 jobs to pay the rent). It’s not the childrens’ fault. Schools have an obligation to meet the needs of all children, including those let down by their parents.

Whose fault is it for the epidemic in childhood obiesity go on Brian blame the food industry not parents who let there kids sit in front of a computer screen for hours on end

Sorry I was talking about school exclusions.

Both my child's primary schools used exclusions (at least one a week at its worst) as a means to get ed psych, behavioural support & paediatrics involved & ultimately an EHCP (statement of SEN). Cuts meant clear evidence of significant needs needed before help could be asked for.
-
If my child wasn't also on the "gifted or more able" register, I fear he would have had permanent exclusions.

League-tables, targets, examinations. All produce numbers we can unquestioningly run our lives by. What else do you need? Evidence that they are relevant? Dangerous!
